ASIAN TOURISM RESEARCH CONFERENCE

Asian Tourism Research was established in the year 2020 with the main objectives of stimulating academic research on Asian tourism and publishing an Asian Tourism Research journal to disseminate knowledge on inquiries into Asian tourism. The first Asian Tourism Research was held at the School of Tourism Studies at Mahatma Gandhi University in November 2020. The global pandemic taught us to transform the way we organise conferences, and hence, we took the opportunity to organise the conference on a virtual platform. Asian tourism research intends to promote research opportunities for Asian scholars in an affordable way. Asian Tourism Research promotes conducting research on Asian tourism phenomena from both insiders’ and outsiders’ perspectives, hence inviting scholars across the world to conduct research on Asian tourism.

Asian Tourism Research also introduces an Asian Tourism research journal and encourages scholars to publish high impact research articles on tourism. This year, Asian Tourism Research introduces ‘thought of the young mind keynote’, which is for highly competent young scholars to speak on the keynote platform of Asian Tourism Research. In order to recognise accomplished scholars, Asian Tourism Research established the RACE award of excellence for academics and students who excel in the four pillars of accomplishment, such as innovations in teaching and learning, research, leadership, and community engagement. The RACE award for excellence in this year’s accomplished scholar will be announced on November 17th, 2020 during the closing ceremony of the 2nd Asian Tourism Research held at the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management, Far Eastern University, Philippines.

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SUSTAINABLE GLOBALIZATION(ICSG 2022)

he 3rd International Conference on Sustainable Globalization 2022 (ICSG) will be held on 7-9th January 2022 in virtual mode. It will bring together about 50 delegates from 6 different countries to present in their areas of expertise. The executive board, in consultation with participating Universities, embassies and a few airline leaders, made a decision to go virtual this year. With recent enhanced risks to travel and increased lockdowns today, the board feels that we could not have made a better decision for the safety of our participants. Apart from the regular conference sessions, there will be two more special sessions as detailed below.

Special Sessions:
There are two special sessions at ICSG 2022
a. A leadership conclave that brings together higher education leaders to give a lightning talk about how they handled covid in their country and following that, three topics anyone can participate in, to further possible collaborative initiatives.  We are expecting Chancellors, Vice Chancellors and Academic Administrators from various countries.

b. A student session where students can listen in to UW Extension online programs and the response to covid.

Keynote Speakers:
Our keynotes this year are:
a. Anny Morrobel Sosa, VP for Academic and Student Affairs at University of Wisconsin System who will speak on University of Wisconsin System’s Response to COVID-19: A Culture of Responsibility for Full Return to Campus

b. Cory Mason, Mayor of the City of Racine, on Smart City initiatives for the City of Racine.

ICSG‘s goals this year were to become as affordable and as accessible as possible. While we keep the ICSG community connected to continue the work we have done and continue to do, we also look forward to 2023 when we hope we can all be physically together, to shake hands and celebrate ourselves in Kochi Kerala. ICSG 2023 will be from 6-9 January 2023. Please mark your calendars early!
